A Winner from the Start (Conceiving Victory)

I recently read the following in an article titled “In My Universe” by Kathleen Wiebe in Natural Health Magazine:

I explained conception to my older son, Primo: “There’s one egg and a million sperm. And the sperm race each other to see which one can get to the egg first. And when it touches the egg, the baby begins.” He absorbed this, was quiet for a while, and then he said triumphantly, “So I won!”

Woah.

From the mouths of babes.

I couldn’t even read the rest of the article because these two words spoken from a child who was, in the purest of ways, simply processing what happens to all of us as we enter the world. My spirit was rocked.

Why?

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…” Jeremiah 1:5a

This is why: Because what came from the heart and mouth of this child and what God said in his word creates an equation with only one result.

God made me a winner from the very beginning. It was written in the symphony of my very conception.

In spite of sin’s reign or even the circumstances that may have surrounded our birth, we are designed to be winners from the start. By virtue of His love, grace, and mercy, we are ONE in a million and purposed to do ONE in a million things.

Whew!

Now there’s nothing left to do but to start acting like it.
