Just Like the CIA

I had an awesome conversation with my good friend Malika from back home (KY). She said something that really struck me.

We were talking about how many people in the body of Christ don’t truly grasp what is going on in the “spiritual” realm. Many of us will fall out in church, crying and praying when problems arise and yet not realize that much of what we are dealing with are either the result of our own flesh and sin or a spiritual attack. Satan and his demonic forces are real!!! And it’s not about sounding spooky or anything like that. It is about being aware of your enemy. We must educate ourselves on how to conduct spiritual warfare. Prayer is powerful and everyday I’m realizing that the scriptures could not have been more accurate when it said that “death and life is in the power of our tongue.” And don’t get it twisted. It’s not about walking around saying “That’s my husband, in the name of Jesus” or “I will make a million dollars next week, bless God.” It’s more about speaking life into dead situations and circumstances in your life. It’s about taking authority over the life of your children and binding the generational curses that often try to attach themselves to us. Some of us are dealing with issues that we see perpetuated in our families and we sit back and accept these issues as our truth. It’s NOT! We just have to understand that Satan is strategic in his attack and often puts systems and institution in place that will continuously manifest themselves generation over generation. If you don’t know how to bind the enemy and loose your self from the bondage of your ancestors…then you are missing a big part of the power that is given to you when you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and the Holy Spirit took residence in your heart.

Malika put it perfectly. We must approach our enemy like the CIA approaches theirs. They first gather intelligence. The word of God says that “my people perish because of a lack of knowledge.” This is not about going to seminary. This is about reading the word as well as other God-ordained books that specifically address Spiritual Warfare. Understanding the how and why’s of Satan’s attacks. What types of demons exist. How do they attack and when. What is a generational curse or ancestral transfer…. etc. etc.

I believe that God is calling us to something greater than our “Now I lay me down to sleep” prayer life. Time is out for Sunday tongue talking but Mon. thru Sat. sleep-walking. We must gather intelligence on our enemy and use the leading of the Holy Spirit and our holy mouths to thwart his useless plans in our lives and the lives of our children.
